Dennis, Lanita and Micah Baker
Dennis was born in Detroit, Michigan. Lanita in Shreveport, Louisiana. In September 1981 Dennis and Lanita met at a church campout in Hood River (Oregon) where Lanita was a long time member and where Dennis was invited as a troubled youth who was seeking God. He obeyed the Gospel message in October of that year. They married in September of 1982 and soon moved to Dallas, Texas to attend the Preston Road School of Preaching. Their first ministry out of the intensive two year program of study was in Tonkawa, Oklahoma where he was the campus minister for two years. Their next ministry was in Monticello, Arkansas; where Dennis served as campus minister at the University of Arkansas for five years. When the opportunity came to move back to the Great North West they moved to Olympia, Washington. Dennis served in Olympia for three years while running an upholstery business. Dennis and Lanita worked with the Lakeview Congregation in Tacoma, Washington for 24 years where Dennis was the youth minister and also served in many other areas.
Dennis and Lanita have three children, two sons and a daughter. Their eldest son is a baptized believer living and working in Vancouver Washington as a welder. Their daughter is a baptized believer living in Oklahoma City, Ok with her husband of four years, Rob Thompson who is also a baptized believer. Their youngest son, Micah, is an adult with intellectual disabilities who lives with Dennis and Lanita.
In September of 2019 the Baker family accepted the invitation to work as the evangelist for the Mt Vernon church of Christ.
We are excited to be a part of the family here at Mt Vernon and to serve in the quad-city communities.
